Founded in 1974, Music Man evolved out of a company named Tri-Sonix when Leo Fender joined the outfit as a partner and design consultant. Music Man began producing amplifiers and introduced its first guitars and basses in 1976. In 1984. the company was purchased by Ernie Ball and is now known as "Ernie Ball Music Man."
Introduced in 1976 as the first bass produced, the StingRay is the company's most famous instrument. Built on a completely original design by Leo Fender and Tom Walker with R&D testing conducted by Sterling Ball, the StingRay introduced now iconic design elements such as a low-placed large humbucking pickup, round pickguard, and ergonomic body design.
This model features a two-band as opposed to three-band onboard preamp. This is the standard single-humbucker model with a Vintage Sunburst finish.
